The term infrared means beyond red. Red is the colour of the longest wavelength of visible light. Infrared light has a longer wavelength than this, so it’s light we cannot see.

Far-infrared (FIR) is a region of the infrared spectrum with a wavelength that is considered to be safe and healthy. Far-infrared emits energy purely in a form felt by humans as comfortable warmth.

Infrared heating is an economical way of heating spaces (e.g. in your home or business) using low intensity, comfortable warmth with no noise, no draughts, and no maintenance.

Electricity is converted to light energy that warms surfaces and people rather than heating the air directly. These surfaces then gently warm the surrounding air creating a more natural warmth coming from every direction – from walls, windows, floors and ceilings.

The most noticeable difference is the more even temperature all round and far greater comfort. In particular the floor to ceiling temperature hardly varies, which is also less wasteful. Yes. Infrared is the safe end of the spectrum that stimulates the sense of well being one gets from sitting in warm sunlight. It’s not to be confused with UV which is at the opposite, unsafe end of the spectrum.

No. Infrared removes moisture from surfaces, so moisture doesn’t form on windows. (Heat pumps, on the other hand, do the opposite – they take moisture in the air and drop it on cold surfaces, which leads to condensation problems.) More info here.
